Welcome to Barrie

The city of Barrie, Ontario is one of the fastest growing cities in Canada. Welcoming you to the city on either side of the major highway running through are welcome signs (this is one of them).

A specialized wide-angle lens and other unusual equipment was needed to get the right angle and field of view to make this photo work. Timing was everything, and with proper editing the image came together perfectly.

What do I mean by “unusual equipment”? My tripod. However, I fully extended it and held it above my head as high as possible to reach a vantage point unattainable any other way.

Holding the tripod precariously above my head, I needed to keep it still, as this image is a three-shot HDR. A few hours of editing and touch-ups made the perfect image.
