Waiting for Dry Wings
This bee is covered in dew – or is it?
Its actually covered in mist from a spray bottle. I was trying to get the bees to stay in one place, and a sure-fire way to do that is to get them wet. Since it’s wings need to dry a little before it attempts to fly, I had my chance to get the shot. The droplets add an extra layer of depth, too!
I discovered that water would prevent the bees from flying off when I was preparing for these shots. It was a great discovery that I have utilized a few times since.
Tiny “artificial” water droplets can add an extra dimension to most nature macro photos.
Photographed in Barrie, Ontario.
