Reaching for the Sun

I know this has been done before, but it’s always been on my list of images to make – a photograph of daisies looking up at the sun.

This image took a bit of work aligning, from a very low angle the viewfinder can be a bit difficult to see. Getting the daisy positioned right over the sun creates the ideal exposure here. Even a slight breeze adds a bit of chaos to the equation, and quite a few images need to be taken before you get everything to fall in the perfect places.

This is actually two images combined. I added the leaf on the main flower’s stem from another shot that was sharper in focus. It’s often a challenge in macro or close-up photography to get everything in focus, and combining multiple frames at different focus points together can be a great way to overcome this problem.
