Maple Leaf Flag
My signature piece, Maple Leaf Flag. Bright red maple leaves laid out on a fresh bed of snow in the a pattern resembling the Canada flag.
This photo was a long time from concept to complete execution: about four months. The leaves needed to be preserved for a proper natural snowfall in the winter. This required a little creativity on my part, and reliving part of my childhood.
The image is sized to a 2:1 ratio, the same size as the Canada Flag’s official dimensions. I have been asked what exact species of Maple these leaves are from, and my answer is always “the ones on my street”.
Photographed in Barrie, Ontario.
