Frosty Snow

The edges of this snowflake are covered in frost. More specifically called “rime”, this is the result of the snowflake colliding with water droplets during its formation or on its way down. I love snowflakes like this, as it adds another layer of detail and complexity to the design.

Every snowflake I find, even from the same cloud, is uniquely different. I will often spend hours outside in the evening, and hours the following day to create snowflake images. I enjoy every minute of it.

Photographed in Barrie, Ontario.
