Four Drops
Looking from one flower to another has never been so mesmerizing. Refraction in water droplets show the world beyond this single pedal, the tiny world of a bouquet of flowers (Gerbera Daisies).
This was a difficult shot to light – I wanted the flowers in the refraction to be lit, but I wanted the pedal in the foreground to be dark so that the droplets seem to glow. A few degrees and a fraction of an inch and this photo would look entirely different.
Another challenge was to get the whole thing in focus, only possibly by combining focus points from different photos through a process called focus stacking can this be done.
Photographed in Barrie, Ontario.
